About Stonewall Forest Academy

Raising Curious, Capable Kids

Our Mission

At Stonewall Forest Academy, we believe children thrive when they are free to explore, create, and connect with the natural world. Our Montessori Method + Charlotte Mason Principles homeschool tutorial nurtures curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

We exist to support families seeking a different path—one that celebrates each child’s unique strengths, fosters strong character, and builds deep connections between children, their community, and the land around them.

Our Approach

We blend the best of the Montessori Method and Charlotte Mason principles to create an environment where children learn by doing:

  • Montessori Foundations — Hands-on, self-paced, child-led exploration.
  • Charlotte Mason Influence — Story-based lessons, nature studies, and habit training to nourish the whole child.
  • Mixed-Age Learning — Older students inspire younger ones, while younger students bring fresh curiosity, fostering leadership and collaboration.
  • Nature at the Center — Our log house in the forest invites students to spend time outdoors daily, connecting with the rhythms of the natural world.

What Makes Us Different

  • Nature-Rich Learning — Daily time outdoors fosters creativity, problem-solving, and stewardship of the land.
  • Small Mixed-Age Groups — Children learn from and alongside one another, developing leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Hands-On, Story-Based Lessons — Academics come alive through narrative, projects, and meaningful work.
  • A Community for Families — Parents and educators work together to support the whole child.

Our Approach

Inspired by both Montessori and Charlotte Mason principles, we blend hands-on learning with a gentle, story-rich curriculum. Lessons are grounded in nature, habit training, and practical life experiences, designed to nurture both mind and character. Learn more about our Programs.

Our Story

Stonewall Forest Academy was founded by Ashley Driver Lords, a longtime educator, entrepreneur, and parent passionate about holding spaces where children can reach their full potential.

After years of studying Montessori and Charlotte Mason methods—and inspired by her own children’s learning journeys—Ashley envisioned a tutorial where families could rediscover the joy of curiosity, connection, and community.

Today, Stonewall Forest Academy serves families in Pleasant Shade, TN, and across Smith, Jackson, Trousdale, Macon, Wilson, and Putnam counties.

Our Community

We’re more than a place for academics—we’re a space where families and children grow together.
Our goal is to:

  • Nurture kindness and respect
  • Encourage independence and responsibility
