How Our Year Works
Stonewall Forest Academy operates on a four-day school week, Monday through Thursday. This schedule still meets Tennessee’s 180-day instructional requirement while giving families a built-in three-day weekend every week.
Because students attend school year-round with shorter, scheduled breaks instead of a long summer, children experience far less learning loss and regression. Skills stay fresh, routines stay steady, and progress is easier to maintain.
Families also have flexibility. Parents may take additional time off whenever needed, as long as they account for their child’s education time in a way that satisfies state requirements.
Some families choose a two-day-per-week enrollment option. In that case, the remaining education days are completed at home by the parent or caregiver using their own curriculum or activities.
This model gives families freedom — without sacrificing structure, accountability, or educational quality.
A Natural, Sustainable, Family-Friendly Rhythm
This structure allows for:
- Consistent friendships and steady learning without the stop-start feel of once-a-week programs
- Time to rest and recharge through longer, intentional breaks across the year
- A gentle summer break — long enough to rest, short enough to avoid learning regression
- Support for homeschooling and working families, with structure, flexibility, and community built in
- Our four-day school week still meets Tennessee’s 180-day instructional requirement.
